My three favorite pieces (forming somewhat of a trilogy), "I Pray," "Crucified and Bled," and "Death Knell," were all composed in a very short span of time. "Death Knell," here, actually came first, then I was very pleasently suprised when "Crucified and Bled" materialized two weeks later, and finally, it just kept on building with "I Pray" (and I had thought "Return to Me," near the beginning of it all, was as good as it was ever going to get). This period in my life certainly wasn't the best of times, though it was absolutely the most creative musically (perhaps the suffering was worth it after all).

For the last time
Sought out a love divine
In a mortal human heart
Now, I shall pay the price

Within this heart of darkness
Centuries of pain
With this heart of darkness
I know not love but shame

Why must I suffer this world
A land bereft of immaculate love
Heaven…nowhere to be found here
Burn this Godforsaken earth

Within this heart of darkness
Centuries of pain
With this heart of darkness
I know not love but shame

In this world…nothing left for me
Ready now to leave this hell behind
To go forth unto oblivion
Throughout eternity…to search for love in vain

Within this heart of darkness
Centuries of pain
With this heart of darkness
I know not love but shame
Within this heart of darkness
Torment forever reigns
With this heart of darkness
I will never love the same
Within this heart of darkness
Burning shame
With this heart of darkness
All I will ever know is shame
